Best Water Filter: A Review Of Which Filters Are The Best

What is the best water filter on the market? For the purpose of this article, since it would be impossible to review every single kind of filter on the market, I am focusing just on pitcher purifiers, and which are the best. I reviewed the PUR CR-6000 in another article, and if you missed that, here are teh strengths of this purifier.

One, it's one of the top pitcher purifiers for removing harmful substances from your water, and it's also known for its' great tasting water. However, with the very effective filtering system also comes a few disadvantages-one, it’s very slow to pour.

This is often the case with filters that take out a lot of substances, as it simply takes them quite a bit of time to get rid of all the negative substances.

Also, the filter tends to get clogged quite fast, which also tends to reduce the longetivity of it, making it more vulnerable for replacements. With all that said, however, for just seventeen bucks, this is heck of a deal, at least if you are serious about improving your health, and while there are a few negatives, by and large this is one of the top, if not the top, water filter out there.

Next up is the Brita pitcher purifier, and this one always rates well for how fast it filters and also for its’ longetivity, two things that the pure filter is lacking in. For this reason, you can actually save money with this, because you won’t be replacing it as often, even though it does sell initially more expensive, at around twenty two dollars, although this is still very affordable.

This one has proven very effective at eliminating the most important elements such as chlorine, lead, copper, and a few others. Brita pitchers get better scores for flow rate and filter life, so if your water test shows that its filtration is adequate, you can save money with this brand.

The Brita Classic 35548 (*est. $22) is the most-recommended Brita pitcher. The NSF certifies the filters to remove chlorine, lead, copper, mercury and benzene, and to improve odor and taste.

Unlike PUR pitcher filters, however, Brita pitchers are not certified to reduce cysts such as cryptosporidium and giardia (which can cause nasty stomach-flu-like symptoms). The filter cartridges can now be recycled, another plus. Independent lab tests done by a leading consumer organization, however, show that Brita water pitchers don't filter out lead as well as PUR filters.

Finally, the last pitcher water purifier I will look at is the clear20 original water pitcher, which costs around twenty dollars, and is actually one of the faster pitcher purifiers out there. In other words, no more waiting around for five minutes before you can actually drink your water, and it’s still fairly effective at eliminating harmful contaminants.

In fact, it lies in the middle of the road in this regard, as it is less effective than the PUR but more so than the Brita, which is right where you would expect it to be, considering the fast speeds it filters with. The bottom lie is, if you are looking for the best water filters, and in particular, pitcher filters, these are some of the models to start with.
